Eurotech S.p.A.

Eurotech S.p.A. was founded in 1992 to operate in the new emerging field of embedded computers and designs, produces and markets miniaturized computers based mainly on the x86 platform and specialized for the transportation technology, telecommunication technology, security technology, and manufacturing industry Since 1999 Eurotech is also active in the field of High Performance Computing both designing/producing custom parallel computers as the INFN's APEmille architecture designed for solving applications in High Energy Physics and marketing systems based on market standard as in the case of the computers based on the Cluster architecture.

Eurotech's History

1992: Foundation

1993 Output of its first series of products available in PC/104 standard;

1994 Entry into the PC/104 market; Friulia spa takes a stake in the Company;

1995 World-first PC/104 manufacturer offering a PC/104 module with a 486DX;

1996 Becoming one of the leaders in the Italian Embedded PC market;

1997 Internationalization strategy through cooperation with European distributors; Introduction of one of the first 3U compactPCI (cPCI) Pentium CPU board; Move to new Company premises in Amaro; Change of the legal form of the Company from s.r.l. to S.p.A.

1998 Complete family of compactPCI products available to the market; Introduction of the PC/104plus product line; Increase of the sales channel with the partnership of international distributors; Founder and share-holder of Neuricam, a fab-less silicon company;

1999 Starts to be recognized as one of the European leaders in the Embedded PC market;

2000 Sales jump to 4 Million Euro. Start of the operation in US with a local office. Start of the activities in the market of High Performance Computing systems in collaboration with NeuriCam S.p.A.

2001 The company receives an infusion from V.C. The production has been moved in a new bigger plant. Sales jump to 6,2 Million Euro;

2002 The company continues its internal and external growth. Eurotech's opens a branch office in Germany ( Munich ) and in China ( Shanghai ). The Eurotech group is now formed by four companies (Eurotech, Neuricam, Ascensit and IPS) with an aggregate sales figure of 10,5 Milion Euro. The Eurotech sales reach 7,3 Million Euro.

2003 Creation of Exadron. the High Performance and Pervasive Computing Division of Eurotech. The new Division concentrates the Company's efforts in the development of new, ultra-performing computational solutions, with a specific focus on Massive Parallel Computing for the Academia and the Industry

2003 Eurotech merges Parvus Corporation (USA) to capture greater global market share for embedded computer products & systems integration services. The aggregate sales jump to 14,3 Milion Euro

curriculum

Giampietro Tecchiolli received his degree in Physics from the University of Trento in 1986. From 1987 to 1998 we was associated with INFN working in the area of parallel and distributed computing for computational theoretical physics. He was a leader of the Special INFN Initiative for realizing RTS-specific VLSI chips and co-designer of the TOTEM chip. From 1988 to 1998, he was with the Institute of Scientific and Technologic Research (IRST) of Trento , where he worked in the System Architectures Laboratory. From 1993 to 2002 he was with the Computer Science Department at the University of Verona as adjunct professor and now he is teaching at the University of Udine and Parma . He is currently Chief Technical Officier of Eurotech S.p.A. (Amaro, UD - Italy ) and Director of the Exadron Division. Giampietro Tecchiolli is member of the IEEE Computer Society and author of several publications and patents.
